KCR's sops taking a toll on T's revenue!

Ahead of the GHMC election, Telangana government had reduced property tax and waived of electricity and water bill dues but this decision have taken a huge toll on the revenues of GHMC and the Telangana Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TSPDCL).

Consumers have started stopping payments even though the formal orders on these sops are yet to be given. Consumers who are paying 1200 as Property Tax till now will need to pay only a nominal 101 Rupees going forward. GHMC managed to collect 474 Crore against the huge target of Rs 1,796 crore this financial year.

About 6 lakh power consumers who use less than 50 and 100 units will also be benefited from waiver of dues. The government will also waives off Rs 295 crore water dues for 3 lakh households.
