Kiara Advani entered South cinema with a strong start, but her journey has taken a very different turn since then.
She made her Telugu debut with Bharat Ane Nenu and got a hit right at the beginning. Working with Mahesh Babu also gave her a strong position in Telugu cinema. But the next few films changed the picture.
Vinaya Vidheya Rama did not work. Game Changer came with huge expectations but ended up disappointing at the box office.
Now Toxic has released, and the early talk isn’t great. The Yash starrer is getting appreciation for its visuals and Yash’s screen presence, but the film is also facing criticism over its writing and execution.
For Kiara, there is another problem. The role simply doesn’t give her enough to do. She looks glamorous and a few bold scenes have caught attention, but there is very little beyond that. In a film of this scale, her character should have had more weight.
Instead, she once again finds herself in a big South film without a role that can really help her.
It is still Day One, so calling Toxic a box-office failure would be premature. But the early response is certainly not helping Kiara’s case.
