After the disappointing response to Coolie, Lokesh Kanagaraj is waiting to restart his directorial journey while completing his acting debut DC directed by Arun Matheshwaran. There are still no official details about his next project.
Before Coolie released, Lokesh had planned to begin Kaithi 2, the much awaited sequel in his universe. But with the recent setbacks, his project lineup has shifted. The planned reunion of Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth was also expected to be directed by him, but that project moved to another filmmaker.
Reports later said Lokesh would finish DC and then directly begin Kaithi 2. Now new speculation suggests he is delaying Kaithi 2 again and choosing to direct a standalone Telugu film as his next project. An official announcement is likely soon.
This buzz has led to criticism on social media, with many saying he is making career decisions that keep pushing him away from his strong storytelling zone. They believe he must prioritise Kaithi 2 to regain his success.
There is still no confirmation on whether Kaithi 2 is delayed. All eyes are now on Lokesh Kanagaraj to see what he announces next and whether a Telugu film will arrive before his big sequel.
