Upon its release, Peddi drew severe public backlash over the perceived hyper-sexualization and objectification of the female lead, played by Janhvi Kapoor. The criticism grew so intense that the director was forced to issue a formal public apology and announce immediate theatrical edits.
Mahesh Babu’s fans are notoriously protective of the actor’s clean, family-friendly on-screen brand. They are completely opposed to the idea of a filmmaker fresh off a major sensitivity controversy directing their favorite star next.
