Nagarjuna's 100th Film With Tamil Director Ra. Karthik

King Nagarjuna is all set for his 100th film, but the buzz isn’t entirely positive. Reports suggest the milestone project will be directed by Tamil filmmaker Ra. Karthik, best known for his critically praised debut Nitham Oru Vaanam (released in Telugu as Aakasam).

While Nagarjuna is known for encouraging fresh talent, fans feel this was not the right time to experiment. Many expected a big bang — a mass-loaded film with a proven commercial director.

Even a mid-range filmmaker like Raghava Lawrence with whom Nag has given commercial hits like Mass and Don, fans say, would have added more weight to the project.

The frustration comes from Nagarjuna’s recent flops — Officer, Wild Dog, The Ghost, and Manmadhudu 2 — all box office failures.

His last solo hit was Soggade Chinni Nayana back in 2016. For such a crucial 100th film, fans expected a serious comeback, not another risky bet.

That said, Ra. Karthik isn’t without merit. His debut film impressed critics with its emotional depth and fresh narrative.

For someone like Nagarjuna, who has always preferred variety over routine mass films, this could be a meaningful choice. He may be betting on content over commercial formulas.

Given his current market position, roping in a big-name director might not have been practically possible. So, picking a capable young filmmaker could actually be a smart, budget-conscious move, provided the story connects.

Before this project starts, Nagarjuna will appear in Kubera with Dhanush and Coolie with Rajinikanth. Once those are done, his landmark solo film is expected to take off.

It may not be the massy film fans hoped for, but if the content clicks, Nagarjuna’s 100th could still be a winner.
