Vijay’s rise to power in Tamil Nadu has once again brought the spotlight on actors who could enter politics next. Names like Dhanush and Sivakarthikeyan are already doing the rounds. Now, attention has turned towards Nayanthara, one of the biggest female stars in South Indian cinema.
Will she enter politics and contest the 2031 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections? Her husband, director Vignesh Shivan, was asked exactly that question.
His response, however, offered no clear answer.
Speaking at a food distribution event organized on the occasion of World Food Day, Vignesh said Nayanthara is currently enjoying motherhood and that their focus remains on their children, family and careers. He added that this phase of their lives is giving them great satisfaction.
In other words, politics is not something the couple wants to discuss right now. But Vignesh neither confirmed nor ruled out Nayanthara’s political ambitions.
The timing of the question is interesting. Vijay’s political entry and subsequent rise have triggered fresh discussions about whether more film personalities will follow the same path. Nayanthara has the popularity and public recognition to attract attention if she ever decides to enter politics. However, stardom alone does not guarantee political success.
For now, there is no concrete indication that she is preparing to contest elections. The 2031 Assembly polls are still years away, and reading too much into Vignesh’s carefully worded response would be premature.
For now, Nayanthara appears focused on her family and career. Whether politics enters the picture later is a question only time can answer.
