Recently, the teaser of Nayanthara‘s Mookuthi Amman 2 directed by Sundar C was released, in which the makers officially announced that the film will hit screens on November 6th as a Diwali release.
From the teaser, it was evident that Mookuthi Amman 2 is completely different from the original film, featuring a lot of CGI work alongside grand period portions.
Since Suriya’s film has already locked in the Diwali release slot, it was expected that Mookuthi Amman 2 and Suriya’s film Scene would have a neck and neck clash this Diwali.
However, surprisingly, fresh speculations suggest that due to delays in completing the CGI work, the makers of Mookuthi Amman 2 are planning to postpone the film’s release.
Furthermore, reports indicate that Mookuthi Amman 2 was made on a budget of 100 crores. Following negative feedback from the audiences regarding the poor CGI in the teaser, the makers reportedly decided to postpone the release from Diwali to rework and improve the visual effects, which play a crucial role in the film.
In response to these speculations, some social media users feel the producers have wasted a huge amount of money on this sequel. They note that the major reason for the massive success of Mookuthi Amman was that it lacked heavy fantasy elements and remained grounded in reality, whereas the sequel appears to be the complete opposite, resembling an old Tamil devotional film.
Additionally, they claim that although Nayanthara is a star actress, her recent solo lead films have not even grossed over 50 crores at the box office. Therefore, they feel the makers have made a huge blunder by investing so heavily in a potentially failing project. Despite the postponement, they suggest the makers should focus on delivering a solid film to save themselves from heavy losses.
Ultimately, there is still no official update on the postponement of Mookuthi Amman 2 and it remains to be seen when the film will hit the screens and whether it emerges as a successful venture upon release.
