Bollywood was literally at rock bottom until Shah Rukh Khan revived the industry with his massive back-to-back 1000 crore films. A few other decent hits followed, and the industry, which seemed like it would not recover in the near future, came back on its feet.
But strangely, Bollywood filmmakers haven’t learned their lessons, whether it be regarding OTT or remakes.
Many are trying to stay away from remakes, including those in the Telugu industry, after seeing a few death blows like Chiranjeevi’s ‘Bhola Shankar,’ etc.
However, in Bollywood, as many as 8 remakes are currently in the making. Only time will tell how many of these will find repeat success in Bollywood in the era of OTT ruling the roost.

3. ‘Sarfira,’ starring Akshay Kumar and Radhika Madan – a remake of Suriya’s ‘SooraraiPottru.’
4. ‘Mrs.,’ starring Sanya Malhotra – a remake of the Malayalam film ‘The Great Indian Kitchen.’
