No relatives as your staff: Modi to Ministers

Now that Narendra Modi’s mission of Congress Mukt Bharat is achieved and India have given him record majority, and now it is the turn of Narendra Modi to show good governance and deliver the promises made. As a first step for transparency in the government, Modi asked his colleagues not to appoint relatives as their personal staff. Among the first documents signed by Modi as PM, one is that related to what will have to be followed in the appointment of personal staff attached to ministers. The orders clearly pressed up on appointing secretaries and other personal staff only from the “general pool”.

It was the first time a Prime Minister imposing such restrictions on his cabinet colleagues but Narendra Modi’s trick successfully yielded results in Gujarat and is expected to work here too. He also advised his ministers to cut down on expenses and establish a direct line of contact with the people.
