War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Junior NTR, is all set to hit screens on August 14. While it’s a major Bollywood release, the film has also caught the attention of Telugu cinema fans because of Jr. NTR’s presence.
This is the first time he will share screen space with Hrithik Roshan, and that pairing alone has generated massive excitement across the country.
The initial teaser didn’t impress everyone, but the recently released trailer has improved the buzz. Fans feel the visuals and action look promising now.
However, many believe Yash Raj Films still needs to push stronger promotional content to keep the hype alive as the release date approaches.
What’s also making headlines is the film’s huge budget and the money spent on the cast. Reports suggest War 2 is being made on a 400 crores budget — the highest in the YRF Spy Universe.
NTR has reportedly charged 60 crores, while Hrithik Roshan received 50 crores along with a share in the profits. Kiara Advani was paid 15 crores, Anil Kapoor got 10 crores, and director Ayan Mukerji was paid 30 crores.
This is because the makers expect NTR to bring in a huge South audience especially from Telugu states. Also, NTR is supposed to star in future films of the Spy Universe, maybe even a standalone film. Adi Chopra is betting big on NTR.
However, it all depends on how the audience accepts WAR 2. If WAR 2 doesn’t click, YRF’s investment on NTR will go into vain.
Other South heroes will also think twice before signing a Bollywood film especially in films where they have to share screen space and credits with other big heroes like Hrithik.
About 150 crores has gone into cast and crew payments, with the rest used for production, including action sequences, sets, and visual effects.
With high stakes, sky-high expectations, and a powerful cast, War 2 is under intense scrutiny. The clash with a much-hyped film like Coolie is also posing a threat to WAR 2.
Still, fans are hoping this one delivers on its promise and emerges as a huge blockbuster.
