Pawan Kalyan’s recent confirmation that OG 2 is happening has completely changed the mood among his fans.
Within days of the announcement, director Sujeeth reportedly met Pawan Kalyan and held discussions regarding the sequel’s script. Ever since then, excitement around the project has been growing rapidly, with fans eagerly waiting to know when the film will officially go on floors.
However, while fans are celebrating the possibility of OG 2, the development may have created a fresh headache for another filmmaker, Surender Reddy.
For a long time, industry circles believed that the project committed to producer Ram Talluri and director Surender Reddy would be Pawan Kalyan’s next film.
In fact, many assumed that once Pawan found time between political commitments, Surender Reddy’s film would move ahead first.
According to industry talk, one reason for the delay is that the script has not yet completely satisfied Pawan Kalyan. Now, with Sujeeth suddenly entering the picture with OG 2, the queue itself appears to have changed.
Just a few months ago, many Pawan Kalyan fans had mentally prepared themselves for the possibility that there would be no major Pawan Kalyan film for several years.
After the disastrous performance of Ustaad Bhagat Singh and with his responsibilities as Andhra Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister taking priority, there appeared to be very little clarity regarding his future film commitments.
That is why the sudden emergence of OG 2 has created such a strong reaction.
According to industry reports, the makers are targeting a November start if everything falls into place.
For many fans, OG was one of the rare recent Pawan Kalyan films that worked beyond pure fan service. The film may not have emerged as a big hit at the box office, but it injected fresh energy and enthusiasm into the fan base.
In many ways, OG 2 currently looks like Pawan Kalyan’s safest bet in terms of box office potential.
Sujeeth was expected to work with Nani on Bloody Romeo after OG. However, with The Paradise getting delayed, Nani’s dates reportedly became unavailable. That situation has seemingly opened a window for Sujeeth to focus on OG 2 instead.
As a result, Surender Reddy’s project once again finds itself facing uncertainty. Whether that project eventually moves forward, gets delayed further, or quietly gets shelved remains to be seen.
