With the emergence of the pan-Indian market in the Indian film industry, there are several cases of top actors working in other languages. But there is one hero who appears to have moved from his conventional industry to a new one.
The hero in question is Dulquer Salmaan and there is a lot of discussion about his presence in his homeland industry of Malayalam cinema while he is actually active in Telugu cinema.
Dulquer is mostly seen in Telugu films of late and he appears to have moved out of Mallu cinema for the time being. He has Lucky Bhaskar and then another film with Vyjayanthi Movies in Telugu.
This has led to a contradictive talk in Mallu cinema about Dulquer’s actual prominence in Mallu cinema. A section of Mallu fans are even displeased with him for sidelining his home language.
At the same time, there are reports that the OTT prospects of Malayalam films are said to be low at the moment. The likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime Video are said not to be betting big on Mallu films of late.
With the lack of OTT contribution, making big films is nearly impossible in Malayalam cinema and that is why Dulquer has started to explore other avenues, it seems. That is the reason behind his emergence in the Telugu market, according to reports.
