Peddi Gets Jio Studios Support: Big Boost in Hindi Belt?

Ram Charan Peddi teaser look

On the occasion of Ram Charan’s birthday, the makers of Peddi dropped the powerful “Peddi Pehelwan” teaser. While an earlier glimpse showcased Charan as a rustic village cricketer, this new asset takes things to another level, presenting him as a rugged wrestler with a striking physical transformation.

Set against a 1980s Andhra Pradesh backdrop, the film positions Ram Charan as a raw, rooted character. His body language, makeover, and use of a regional dialect signal a complete shift from his previous roles. But the bigger development lies off screen.

Top production and distribution giant Jio Studios has officially come on board to handle the film’s North India release. This is not a small move. It marks Jio’s first major push with a pan India Telugu film in the Hindi belt. With its strong distribution network and aggressive market reach, Peddi now has a clear pathway to secure a good number of screens across North India.

Jio Studios recently created a sensation with Dhurandhar 1 and Dhurandhar 2, and its involvement adds serious weight to Peddi. Expectations are that the film could open big and exceed films like Pushpa Part 1. A double digit opening of around Rs.10 crores would be great, but anything around Rs.7 to Rs.8 crores will also be considered decent. Then the film can build on positive word of mouth.

Interestingly, Jio is also backing another big film, Raja Shivaji, releasing on May 1, just a day after Peddi. Despite the potential clash, trade experts believe Jio will strategically manage screen allocation for both films. Raja Shivaji is mostly catering to the Marathi audience.

With Jio Studios backing, Peddi is expected to enjoy better visibility and aggressive promotions in Hindi belts than some of the recent pan India films from Telugu.
