M9 News journalist Nishant sat down with actor Pradeep Ranganadhan ahead of the release of his upcoming film Dude, hitting theatres on October 17 as a Dussehra special.
Pradeep shared how he teamed up with Mythri Movie Makers, his first production house. He said he was thrilled to collaborate with the team behind big films like Pushpa and Pushpa 2. Confident and upbeat, Pradeep described Dude as more than just fun and laughs.
“Dude isn’t only about entertainment. There’s a sensible point we’re not revealing yet. It’s not a huge message, but it’s something everyone will relate to,” he said.
Talking about the viral “Cringe” dialogue from the film, Pradeep explained, “People today use the word ‘cringe’ for everything they dislike. The word actually means something disgusting, but it’s losing its real meaning. Soon, people will use it for anything.”
Opening up about his background, Pradeep shared how his middle-class upbringing shaped his connection to underdog characters.
“I come from a humble background. I was always studious and scored around 98% till my Intermediate. I began making short films during college while continuing my studies. My father worried, but I told him it was just for fun. I revealed my career plans only after Comali released,” he said.
Even today, his father lives a simple life.
“My father still runs our Xerox shop. He avoids the spotlight. I even offered to buy him a car, but he still prefers the bus,” Pradeep said with a smile.
Pradeep also mentioned visiting Hyderabad to watch OG and shared his love for Thammudu, saying he hopes to do a film like that someday.
