Is wearing a saffron-coloured dress a sin? Do people really have to explain why they chose a particular colour? these question are now turned as hot topics in social media after Malayalam actress Priya Prakash Varrier was asked why she wore a saffron-coloured gown to a public event.

During the event a reporter asked Priya Prakash Varrier, “Why did you wear a saffron dress? Is there any special reason?”, Priya politely replied that there was no particular reason and that she simply liked the outfit, making it clear that her choice was not driven by any specific agenda.

Even then, the question itself has sparked a broader discussion about personal choice and journalistic ethics. Although Saffron holds religious significance in India and is also associated with contemporary politics wearing a saffron-coloured outfit alone does not automatically imply a political statement or affiliation.

A section of netizens argued that clothing is a matter of personal preference and that no one should be expected to explain why they wear a particular colour. They questioned whether the same question would have been asked if the dress had been blue, black, or white.
