Young Tiger NTR is possibly going to face his biggest test as a star in recent past with the film Rabhasa. Although his last film flopped, the star isn’t really in any bad shape at the box office but post the recent elections things seems to be little iffy among his fan base. To put it in simple way, it’s divided. There are those who still are with him and there are those who aren’t.
Nandamuri fans have always been politically interlinked with its flagship party TDP always being at the centre of storm. In the previous elections when the party lost the elections, Jr NTR had aggressively campaigned for the party and won hearts of the cadre added lots of new fans. This time it was completely different as the actor stayed away and didn’t even come out once in support. Add to it a rival star campaigned extensively in his place for the party making him look further bad. The result of all this could be seen at the swearing-in function where the star was completely sidelined.
The trade therefore is now looking closely at how the film fares at the box office. The advance booking so far has been below expectations but many attribute it to the stale vibe the project is giving. The real test will be on the opening day when fans are expected to come into play. In the past despite the failures of his films, they had tremendous openings thanks to the fans. Will the political ill will spill on to the openings and show negative effect?
If we look at positives, Rabhasa will be the first release of Jr NTR in almost an year, is the first biggie to hit screens after the summer releases, then there is the big holiday on the opening day and last but not the least, it is the actor’s first release after his son was born which has definitely nullified some of the negativity on the star among the fans and cadre.
