Sundar C to Ashwath: Rajinikanth Breaks Silence on Dharman

Dharman first look unveiled with Rajinikanth

After several changes and delays, Rajinikanth’s 173rd film officially went on floors today. The makers also unveiled the title, Dharman, along with its first look poster, confirming the latest change in the film’s directorial team.

The project was initially announced with Sundar C as the director. However, he later exited the film due to undisclosed reasons. Cibi Chakaravarthi was then brought on board, but he too eventually stepped away from the project. The makers have now entrusted Ashwath Marimuthu with directing the much-awaited film.

The title and first look poster were launched at a grand event in Chennai. The occasion became even more special as Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth shared the stage and interacted with fans and media.

Speaking at the event, Rajinikanth explained the sequence of developments behind the project. He revealed that K S Ravikumar was originally expected to direct the film, but the collaboration did not materialise. Sundar C later joined the project but moved on due to delays and prior commitments.

Rajinikanth also spoke about the version planned with Cibi Chakaravarthi. He described it as a strong script dealing with nuclear weapons and other sensitive themes. However, the film required extensive shooting in countries such as Russia and Afghanistan, making it a lengthy production.

According to Rajinikanth, he decided to postpone that project for a later date because of the time required to complete it. Around the same period, Ashwath Marimuthu narrated a new script, which impressed the team and was immediately approved.

Following Rajinikanth’s clarification, social media users shared mixed reactions. Some felt the reasons behind the changes were understandable, while others argued that key decisions should have been finalised before making official announcements.

Critics of the repeated changes believe that altering major aspects of a project after an official launch can affect credibility among audiences. They feel that such developments may create confusion and impact public perception.

With the title now unveiled and production officially underway, attention has shifted to the film itself. Fans will be eager to see how Dharman shapes up and whether it can meet expectations when it arrives in theatres.
