Superstars are the ones who can pull openings regardless of the content of the film. Of late, we have been seeing superstars like Pawan Kalyan and Rajinikanth doing cameos in films like Bro and Lal Salaam respectively. And in a way, Rajini has shown the strength of Pawan Kalyan.
When Bro released, it didn’t have much buzz going its way. The openings were ordinary as well. This led to a comment from opposition camp that Pawan is unable to pull the big openings that he used to in the past. They conveniently ignored the fact that Pawan did just a cameo in the film and used the ordinary numbers to rub it on the faces of Mega fans.

But now, after seeing the case of Rajini’s Lal Salaam it is to be understood that what Pawan did with Bro was far better.
Lal Salaam got zero openings in the Telugu states and to make matter worse, it opened on a disaster note in Rajini’s home Tamil market as well. His cameo had zero effect on the film.

Pound for pound, Bro and Lal Salaam are equal in terms of cameos of superstars. In that case, Rajini after delivering a 500 crore blockbuster with Jailer flopping big time with Lal Salaam, shows that the numbers posted by Bro with Pawan’s came are no mean feat.
Bro was a remake and it had rather inexperienced Samuthirakani at the helm. The numbers were considered ordinary then but after seeing Lal Salaam we can assess Pawan’s impact on the film.
