Rajinikanth’s Coolie appears set to give tough competition to War 2 in the Hindi belt on August 14, 2025, as advance booking numbers suggest the latter is struggling to attract audiences. Reports indicate that Coolie has achieved pre-sales of around Rs. 100 crores worldwide, and with a holiday weekend ahead, the final figures could be even higher.
The film is being released across India by Pen Marudhar, which has secured 1,400 screens in North India and about 3,200 shows. With growing interest from Hindi-speaking audiences, Coolie’s opening day collection might surpass other recent pan-India releases. If the film breaks new ground, Rajinikanth could hold the top three spots for the biggest opening day by a dubbed Tamil film in Hindi, alongside his previous hits 2.0 and Kabali.
As of August 13, 2025, nearly 25,000 tickets have been sold in major national cinema chains PVRInox and Cinepolis. The count is expected to rise to 40,000, which could lead to an opening day figure of Rs. 5 crores in Hindi, according to Himesh Mankad. The clash is expected to spark intense fan debates, boosting attention and business for both films.
While Coolie is making waves, War 2 should not be overlooked. The film has sold 1 lakh tickets so far and currently leads in Hindi markets, though its numbers remain lower than expected considering the wide release. The four-day weekend will decide whether Coolie or War 2 emerges as the box office winner, setting the stage for future big releases in the coming months.
