Rakasa Dominates Biker at the U.S. Box Office

This week saw two new Tollywood releases clash at the box office. On one side was Sharwanand’s most ambitious film, Biker, promoted as India’s first motocross film and backed by UV Creations. On the other was a smaller film, Rakasa, produced by Pink Elephant Pictures and presented by Niharika Konidela.

The results have come as a surprise.

Both films opened to mixed talk, but at the U.S. box office, the smaller film Rakasa has taken a clear lead over the much bigger Biker, despite Sharwanand headlining the latter.

Sangeeth Shobhan’s Rakasa collected $134K from premieres and Day 1, while Biker managed only $67K.

The gap is significant, with Rakasa almost doubling Biker’s numbers.

These figures reflect not just pre-release buzz and promotions, but also immediate post-release word of mouth, since the totals include both premieres and Day 1 collections.

Same situation in the Telugu states as well. On BookMyShow, where tracking is available, Rakasa has taken a decisive lead over Biker.

It is quite interesting to see a small film like Rakasa dominate a high-budget, ambitious project like Biker, clearly indicating stronger audience interest.
