Rakul Preet Singh has broken her silence over reports linking her to an Income Tax search, strongly denying any connection to the matter. The actress says the search was not related to her and has questioned the way some media reports rushed to sensationalise the story without verifying the facts.
Rakul said she comes from an Armed Forces background and entered the film industry without a godfather, building her career through hard work. She stated that she has been paying her taxes since the age of 20 and described herself as a responsible, law-abiding citizen.
Addressing the financial allegations, Rakul categorically denied any involvement in illegal foreign remittances, either personally or on behalf of a production house. She also rejected claims of holding benami properties in India or abroad. According to the actress, nobody has ever gifted her property, and she does not accept expensive gifts as a matter of principle.
Her strongest criticism, however, was aimed at the reporting. Rakul urged those who published what she called false and speculative reports to retract them and clarify the facts. She acknowledged the commercial pressures faced by media organisations, but said those pressures should not come at the cost of someone’s reputation and livelihood.
With her statement, Rakul has put her position on record and drawn a clear line between herself and the reports circulating online.
