Bollywood has been the target of trolls on social media for the past few years, especially after the unfortunate suicide of Sushant Singh Rajput.
Recently, a video from the Ambani pre-wedding celebration went viral, depicting Shah Rukh Khan inviting Ram Charan onto the stage in a light-hearted manner, accompanied by some playful banter where he addressed Charn with a Idly Vada dialogue.
However, the light-hearted moment quickly turned sour as SRK faced accusations of racism and disrespect towards South Indian stars. Some fans took to social media to express their disappointment, claiming that SRK had insulted Ram Charan on a public platform.
It’s important to recognize that Bollywood has generally shown respect towards South Indian stars. Actors like SRK, Salman, Aamir, Ranbir Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, and others, have often praised and celebrated their counterparts from the South during promotional events.
Conversely, there have been instances where South Indian stars have made derogatory remarks about Bollywood. We have seen some stars telling the media that Bollywood can’t afford them, etc., Some South Stars even behave off-screen just like the way they behave on screen without any humility.
The comment made by SRK was intended as a playful reference to a dialogue from his film “One Two Ka Four,” without any ill will. SRK and Ram Charan share a longstanding friendship dating back to the ‘Toofan’ days, characterized by mutual respect and camaraderie.
In reality, such playful exchanges between friends shouldn’t be misconstrued as disrespect. SRK wouldn’t have been offended if Ram Charan had jokingly referred to him as “Vada Pav” or “Chole Bhature.”
Unfortunately, this incident has been blown out of proportion on social media, adding to the cycle of unnecessary controversies.
