Too Much Secularism? Ramayana Religion Controversy

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is one of the most awaited films in Indian cinema. It aims to bring the timeless epic to the big screen with a vision as grand as its story. What makes it even more special is the team behind it.

The film’s music has already become a major talking point. Lyricist Kumar Vishwas and composers A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer have joined hands to create a powerful soundtrack. Their collaboration promises an emotional and unforgettable musical journey for audiences.

Kumar Vishwas recently shared that it took the trio seven days to compose the song portraying the moment when Shri Rama leaves Ayodhya for Vanvaas. He said that when the song was completed, all three of them Hans Zimmer, A.R. Rahman, and himself were moved to tears.

He also mentioned that the film’s soundtrack has united a Hindu, a Christian, and a Muslim. While this comment was meant to highlight diversity, it sparked strong reactions online. Many fans felt religion should not be part of the discussion about art.

Some fear that religious groups might misuse such statements either to claim ownership of success or to blame failure on religious differences. Viewers believe the focus should stay on creativity, not faith.

Art transcends religion. Music, especially in a film like Ramayana, should bring people together, not divide them. This collaboration deserves to be seen for what it truly is a celebration of talent and shared artistic vision.
