Rashmika Mandana and her role were trolled mercilessly after the release of Pushpa. She was labeled the weakest link of the film. She received undeserved hate from a section of people.
It was assumed that the Pushpa makers would cast Rashmika in the second part due to continuity issues but not give her character much importance as she couldn’t leave much impact in the first part. But things have changed now after Animal.
Animal has turned out to be a big hit and Rashmika has become one of the very few South Indian actresses to have delivered such a huge blockbuster on a pan-India level. Her performance as the Gitanjali has also resonated with the audience. She is in a different league now and very few actresses command such popularity in India right now.
So Sukumar has to make sure that Rashmika gets a well-written role in Pushpa 2. He cannot afford to give her a cardboard character this time.
Despite her ill-conceived role, Rashmika contributed her bit in the first part’s success with her performance in Sri Valli and Saamy songs especially in the North belts.
In Pushpa 2 they will expect to see more and better of her. So she can’t be taken lightly now.
