rashmika-exposes-sukumar-bound-script-problem

Director Sukumar just delivered a film poised to become Bollywood’s all-time highest-grosser. But, even before Pushpa, his career took a significant turn with Rangasthalam, which marked his shift towards mass, rustic films.

Sukumar is known for his peculiar working style, but it comes with so many struggles. Many who have worked with him openly admit that he rarely finishes shoots on time and never works with a bound script. He frequently makes changes on set, possibly due to dissatisfaction with the written material or a desire for constant improvement which throws off film’s and actor’s schedule.

If a director displayed such behavior, he might be labeled as indiscipline or irresponsibility. However, Sukumar’s track record of success shields him from public criticism by producers or actors.

Interestingly, Rashmika Mandanna, in a recent interview, innocently exposed Sukumar’s biggest flaw while praising him.

She revealed that he doesn’t work with a bound script, instead figuring things out as he goes to sets. This habit might explain why Pushpa 2 took three years to complete, drawing heavy criticism for the delays. Check Rashmika’s stament below;

“I remember when I started shooting for Pushpa 2, Sukumar sir, the director of the film came and told me that Srivalli has this arc and she has this one high moment in the film. When the time comes, we’ll talk about it but you’ll have to perform.”

“I was always curious and when the Jaathara sequence, which is 20 or 21 minutes of the film. So, the shoot went on for like 3-4 months for that whole bit but when we came to the scene, he (Sukumar) is not a man who has a bound script. He is someone who figures out as he goes by. When it was time for the scene, we were figuring out the lines as we went by, and suddenly, I had 3-4 pages of only me speaking,” the actress added.
