We look at the openings of RRR compared to other pan-India biggies for starters.
In Telugu, Baahubali 2 holds the current record for the opening day with nearly 43 Cr share. No other film has breached the 40 Cr until now. RRR is expected to annihilate this opening. The trade is expecting a gobsmacking 60 Cr plus for RRR. The more higher it goes, the better its chances of getting 100 Cr gross from Telugu states alone.
In Hindi, Baahubali 2 is the highest for a Pan-India movie with 41 Cr Nett collections. Saaho (24 Cr Nett) and 2.0 (20.25 Cr Nett) occupy second and third place respectively. RRR was expected to be in second place previously, but now it looks impossible to find a place in the top 3. The current estimates are 15Cr to 19Cr, at the very high end with super positive word of mouth. If that’s not the case the numbers are expected to be much lower (8 Cr – 10 Cr).
When it comes to India wide (including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala), Baahubali 2 holds the record with over 150 Cr gross. Saaho is the second best with 100 Cr. RRR is expected to go past Saaho from Telugu states alone. In that case, its chances of surpassing Baahubali 2 becomes higher if the Hindi version opens decently.
Worldwide, Baahubali 2 has a gross of around 215 Cr. Saaho is second best with 125 Cr. RRR is sure to surpass Saaho, and also reach the 200 Cr Gross mark. But, to go past Baahubali 2, other languages too must be on board. Alternatively, the Telugu numbers must be insanely high.
Watch this space as we update the latest trends on the advance bookings and opening records of RRR. The SS Rajamouli directorial starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan will hit screens worldwide on March 25th in multiple languages.
