Brand “Rajamouli” attained a whole lot of fame in Kerala with Baahubali duology. Baahubali 2 is one of the highest grossing films ever in Kerala cinema. However, Rajamouli’s immediate next outing after Baahubali – RRR is yet to gain momentum in Kerala.
The Kerala theatrical rights of RRR are valued at Rs 10 crores and the film needs to collect in upwards of Rs 12 crores to enter the profits zone.
But interestingly enough, Rajamouli‘s brand image is not working its magic in RRR yet. The advance bookings for the film are said to be on a dull note.
In the case of Baahubali 2, the film banked on the hype built by Baahubali 1. But that isn’t the case with RRR. The film is yet to gain momentum in the Kerala market. A lot will depend on the early reviews and the word of mouth from the morning shows.
The good thing is that RRR has 2 weeks free run in Kerala, so a unanimously positive word of mouth can work very well for the Rajamouli directorial.
