Telugu audience are amongst the most receptive and welcoming when it comes to quality films as they don’t mind about the language or the lead cast of the film if it comes with solid content.
Now we have an interesting attempt to this effect in the form of Sing Geetham which is conceived and partly directed by legendary Singeetham Srinivas who’s all of 94 years old.
This is an extremely innovative film with very little dialogue, and the entire narrative being presented through the songs and visual medium. The legendary Srinivas is behind the helm and that anyway guarantees refined cinema presentation skills.
But the problem has been with the fact that the film has not yet fully fired at the ticket counters. The hourly booking Trends on BookMyShow are currently at 1000 tickets per hour, and this needs to pick up rather quickly.
The Telugu audience are also saturated by the commercial kind of cinema that has been overflowing at the theatres in the recent past. So when a genuinely good attempt that requires the respect of the audience comes up, the onus is one the Telugu folk to ensure that it is adequately encouraged.
For now, we have to patiently wait and see if the film would gain momentum at the ticket counters with advance bookings as this is the need of the hour at this point in time.
