The much-awaited Prabhas vs Salman Khan clash for Eid 2027 may be slowly heading towards cancellation.
Prabhas’ Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is currently scheduled to release on March 5, 2027, during the Eid weekend. Salman Khan’s upcoming action entertainer SVC63 with Vamshi Paidipally and Dil Raju is also being planned for the same festive window. This could have been one of the biggest pan-India clashes in recent years.
However, industry buzz suggests that Spirit is running seriously behind schedule. Around 75 days of shooting are reportedly still pending. Completing such a large portion on time could be extremely difficult. Prabhas is also committed to multiple projects, while Vanga is mounting Spirit on a massive scale.
According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the makers are internally discussing alternative release windows if the Eid deadline becomes impossible. One option reportedly being considered by T-Series is the post-IPL window in June 2027.
For now, the official release date remains March 5, 2027. There has been no announcement about a postponement. The team could still try to meet the Eid deadline, but the growing industry buzz suggests that the situation is far from comfortable.
If Spirit eventually moves out, Salman Khan could once again get something he has enjoyed for years: a completely solo Eid release. Eid has traditionally been Salman Khan’s strongest theatrical territory. However, his recent Eid releases have not justified that superstar status. From Radhe to Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and Sikandar, Salman has struggled to deliver the kind of blockbuster associated with his Eid dominance, despite releasing solo. Yet, even after several disastrous Eid releases, the industry continues to reserve the festival window for him.
If Spirit exits the race, Salman could once again get the entire Eid audience without having to share screens with Prabhas. But there is another important question. Would a solo Eid release still guarantee Salman a massive opening in 2027?
Going by the performance of his recent Eid releases, the answer could be a BIG no, unless the promotional material for his next film genuinely surprises audiences and creates strong hype.
