After Sivakarthikeyan, Big Tamil Upgrade for Sreeleela?

After the box office success of the Bollywood film Tere Ishk Mein, Dhanush has completed shooting for his 54th film Kara, directed by Vignesh Raja. He has also begun pre production work for his 55th film, tentatively titled D55, directed by Rajkumar Periyasamy.

Initially, D55 was planned under the Gopuram Films banner, and a pooja ceremony was also held. However, due to certain reasons, Gopuram Films exited the project. Dhanush has now stepped in as the producer and is backing the film himself.

Over the past two days, updates related to D55 have dominated social media. Wunderbar Films announced that Sai Abhyankkar will compose the music. Soon after, the team officially confirmed that Sreeleela will play the female lead in the film.

Since the announcement, speculation suggested that Mammootty and Sai Pallavi would play key roles in D55. Many expected the latest update to confirm Sai Pallavi’s involvement. Instead, the announcement focused on Sreeleela, which surprised many fans.

This led to mixed reactions online. Some users believe the makers chose Sreeleela over Sai Pallavi. Others claim the film has two female leads and that both actresses are part of the cast, though there is no official clarity yet.

Following the confirmation, many congratulated Sreeleela for landing such a major Kollywood project. Fans feel this marks an important step in her career, especially after mixed results in her recent Tollywood films.

Despite the failure of her debut film Parasakthi, Sreeleela has secured notable projects in Tamil cinema. With D55, she now has a strong chance to establish herself as a leading actress in Kollywood.

As the project moves forward, attention remains on how D55 shapes up. Its success could play a key role in strengthening Sreeleela’s position across South Indian cinema.
