Star Hero Leading Industry In Wrong Direction

Star Hero Leading Industry In Wrong DirectionThe film industry is in the doldrums post-pandemic and the success ratio has fallen further these days. The audience has moved on to newer avenues and they are avoiding watching films in theaters unless the content is truly unique and if there is enough awareness about the film.

And in such times, there are some star heroes who are misleading the industry with meaningless statements.

Recently it was reported that Thala Ajith would not attend any pre-release event to promote his upcoming film Thunivu in the direction of H Vinoth. In this context, his PR team has issued a statement of Ajith on social media which said, “A good film is a promotion by itself!”

A lot is at stake with regard to star-loaded films. The buyers and exhibitors buy these ‘so-called” biggies at exorbitant rates and pay high interest rates on finances. If the film doesn’t do well then their families literally will come on the roads.

If a star promotes a film and creates some hype, then there are chances that even if the film is bad, it will at least get a decent opening and reduce the losses of buyers. But if the stars don’t promote their films and pass such absurd statements it is only going to cause more harm than good to the industry.

Even in Tollywood, there are some stars who believe in no promotion strategy. They just finish the shoot of their films and leave it to their fate and move on to their next.

Many on social media are saying that if the star feels there is no need for promotions, why to even release a trailer? What’s the need to have a PR team if he doesn’t like promotions?

An actor’s job is not restricted to acting in a film. It’s his job to sell the film as well. It’s his duty to promote the films so that they can reach a wider set of audience.

If any star produces a film with his own money, distributes it on his own, and bears all the expenses only then he has the right to pass such statements. Putting the money of producers, buyers, and exhibitors at stake, and passing such statements about promotion doesn’t make any sense.
