Star heroine’s prayer pays off

Shruti Haasan has been reasonably successful in Tamil and Telugu industries with a few hits already in her kitty. She already has worked with a few southern stars and will be collaborating with a few more this year. In essence, her southern career is going places. But it was Bollywood where Shruti started her career with a flop film called Luck, which unfortunately didn’t shine on her.

Her latest Hindi release Gabbar Is Back may have opened to mixed reviews but the film has managed to collect a whopping Rs. 14 crore on first day in India and trade pundits predict the film might soon enter the Rs. 100 crore club. This hit has come to Shruti after a long wait and her prayers have paid off.

With the strong opening that Gabbar has received and with the growing word of mouth from audiences on it being a paisa vasool entertainer, producers of Shruti’s next films – Welcome Back, Rocky Handsome and Yaara are looking forward to her pull at the box office for their films as well and are looking at putting additional emphasis on her from a promotions and mounting point of view.
