It has been close to a year since Indian cinema witnessed the massive success of Pushpa 2. The film was confirmed by the makers as the highest grossing Indian film to date. Its impact is still remembered across the country.
After the release, Allu Arjun quickly moved on to a new project with Tamil film maker Atlee. However, the director of Pushpa, Sukumar, appears to be staying quiet. He has not announced any new collaboration so far.
Even after almost a year since Pushpa 2, Sukumar has not materialised a project. This feels unexpected for a director who delivered one of the biggest cult blockbusters in India. Meanwhile, Pushpa 2 released on December 5, and Allu Arjun took six months to lock his next film.
One key factor is that most top stars in Telugu cinema are already busy with other collaborations. None of them are currently free to begin a new project. This may naturally put Sukumar in a waiting phase.
This situation could also open a chance for Sukumar to work with a hero from another language. But he will have to consider market equations and the value of being the “Pushpa Director” before making his decision. It seems like a tough call, especially as the delay appears longer than expected.
