Suriya Made Perfect Call, Appreciation Flooding In

Until last night, Suriya was thrown under the bus by several film industry biggies, theatre owners and critics who thought that Suriya’s decision to release his film ‘Soorai Pottru’ directly on an OTT platform was a hasty one are now biting their tongue.

Last night came the announcement that the fourth lockdown will ensure that no theatres and schools would reopen until at least 30th September. In the current situation, appreciation is flooding in for Suriya for his timely decision.

Suriya indeed made a perfect call to take his film to OTT and there wouldn’t be anyone to still say that Suriya was wrong. Earlier, Suriya faced flak for releasing his wife Jyothika’s movie ‘Ponmagal Vandha’ on Amazon Prime Video and even invited the ire of the theatre owners.

Further, ‘Soorarai Pottru’ going for a direct digital release also earned him criticism. Now, Suriya was right and maybe, more filmmakers and producers will follow suit. Let’s see.
