Suriya's-'Singam-2'-collect

The success of “Singam 2” comes as a respite for Suriya after his last two releases – “7am Arivu” and “Maattrraan” failed to keep the cash registers ringing. The film made on a budget of INR 45 crores, has raked in a combined total of 8.15 crore on release day from Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka.

It’s a good number to start with considering the criticism the film has been receiving from critics and fans alike. Trade analysts say that despite the long running time of the film, audiences enjoyed sitting through the mass appealing commercial outing.

The film is the sequel to highly successful “Singam”, and both the parts were helmed by Hari Gopalakrishnan. Does the success of Singam 2 pave way to the third installment in the series? We have to wait and see.
