The shooting of Suriya’s Karuppu directed by RJ Balaji is almost nearing its final stages and simultaneously, Suriya is acting as the lead in a bilingual project directed by Venky Atluri.
In this scenario, now there is a strong speculation that many Telugu producers are targeting Suriya for bilingual projects due to the high salaries commanded by Kollywood actors Vijay, Rajinikanth and Ajith Kumar.
Furthermore there is information that following the bilingual project with Venky Atluri, Suriya is planning to do another film with a Telugu director and is in talks with Vivek Athreya for his next.
Even though this is just a buzz and there are no official updates, social media trackers are responding to this buzz by suggesting that Suriya is set to make a solid comeback with his peak lineup.
They suggest that Suriya was once a peak actor of South India and had a strong market in the Telugu states. However, he has now lost market share due to continuous failures, but if he makes a strong comeback with back to back blockbusters, he will reclaim his throne and once again rule South Indian cinema.
They are also pointing out Vijay’s exit from doing films, Ajith Kumar’s focus on racing and Rajinikanth’s age stating that there is now a huge vacuum for top stars in Kollywood. If Suriya could capitalize on this with a solid lineup and expand his market in other languages, then he has huge potential to rule the Kollywood industry.
However, there have been no official updates on this and it remains to be seen whether Suriya will bank on solid bilingual projects in Telugu and Tamil and emerge as a top star in Kollywood in the future.
