After Kanguva and Retro, fans are eagerly waiting for Suriya’s strong comeback with three films lined up for 2026. While 2024 and 2025 were disappointing for the actor with the box-office failures of Kanguva and Retro, 2026 looks promising with fresh and exciting projects.
Suriya has almost completed the shooting of his next commercial entertainer Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji. Only a few shooting days remain, and post-production is happening in full swing. Although the release date is yet to be confirmed, reports suggest Karuppu may arrive early next year.
At the same time, Suriya is also working as the lead in an untitled action family drama directed by Venky Atluri. Reports state that nearly 70% of the shoot is done, and if all goes as planned, the film will release in summer 2026.
There is also strong buzz about Suriya teaming up with Malayalam director Jithu Madhavan for a quirky cop drama. This film will reportedly go on floors right after Venky Atluri’s project wraps up, with a possible release towards the end of 2026.
Fans believe Suriya’s 2026 lineup could mark his big comeback, as all three projects appear unique and promising. Many are already celebrating, predicting that 2026 will belong to Suriya.
However, some feel the back-to-back releases could be risky. They argue that releasing three films in one year might affect the overall box-office buzz. For instance, if one film generates stronger hype, it could overshadow another, like Karuppu.
Fans and trade experts suggest that even if Suriya completes all three films before 2026, producers should ideally release them with at least a five to six-month gap. It remains to be seen if these upcoming projects turn into blockbusters and make 2026 a powerful comeback year for Suriya.
