One of the biggest hits of 2013 was Nikhil Siddhartha-starrer Swamy Ra Ra. The film’s Tamil remake rights have been bought by actor Srikanth, who has starred in Telugu films such as Nippu and Aadavari Matalaku Ardhale Verule. He has bought the remake rights for Tamil as well as Malyalam languages. The Tamil version is currently on floors and the shooting is progressing at brisk pace.
Srikanth is playing the lead while Pooja from the original is acting alongside him. The team is on the lookout for an actress to play Swathi’s role from the original. Mithran Jawahar, who is directing the film, said that they are planning to rope in a Bombay-based model for the lead role. Most Telugu remake have not worked in Tamil. We have to see whether this remake will rake in the moolah or not.
Srikanth’s career is also not going so well in Tamil. He hasn’t had a release in a long time and now that he has turned producer, things aren’t the same anymore and he should realize it soon.
