Taapsee Pannu’s Bold Take: Let Women Be Messy

Taapsee Pannu on female characters

Taapsee Pannu has always been vocal about her opinions and never really holds back when it comes to expressing her thoughts. The actress has once again shared her thoughts on women and cinema. The actress was speaking at the 14th edition of the Jagran Film Festival when she opened up about female characters and the way they are written.

Taapsee feels female characters should not always be shown as perfect. She said cinema becomes more interesting when women on screen are allowed to be flawed and complicated.

She believes female characters should have the freedom to make mistakes, follow their ambitions and show different shades. For her, these are the things that make a character feel more real rather than simply presenting women in an ideal way.

Talking about her own work, Taapsee mentioned films like Pink and Thappad. Both films gave her characters with strong personalities and different layers. She also said that actors should take risks and not always choose roles based on what audiences expect from them.

Taapsee has followed the same approach in several of her films, choosing roles that are not limited to the usual template for female characters. Her latest comments once again show why she continues to look for roles that offer something different.
