Mani Ratnam’s much anticipated Tamil film Ponniyin Selvan 1 is set to grace the theatres on September 30. According to the latest reports, the digital streaming rights of PS1 have been bagged by Amazon Prime Video for a whopping amount.
The magnum opus is being touted as the Tamil industry’s answer to SSR’s all-time blockbuster Baahubali. Vijay’s socio-fantasy film Puli was also hailed as competition to Baahubali by Tamil movie fans, but it fell flat on its face after its release and became the most trolled film in recent times.

In the past, Mani Ratnam films would be most-awaited by the Telugu audience. But due to his last few films like Nawab, Cheliya, and Kadali, this film is not getting the required hype. The buzz is too low for a film that is being pitted as competition to Baahubali.
PS1 has a plethora of stars like Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Prakash Raj, Parthiban, Vikram Prabhu, Sobhita Dhulipala, and others.
