The first season of Amazon Prime Video‘s original series, Suzhal: The Vortex, premiered on June 17th. Touted as a small-town mystery thriller, this Tamil language show dubbed into many languages has been created by Pushkar-Gayathri of Vikram Vedha fame.
Starring Aishwarya Rajesh, Kathir, R.Parthiban, and Sriya Reddy, among others, in key roles, this eight-episode series has been receiving great response from the OTT audience.
The story is good, while the screenplay is engaging for most parts. Technically it is one of the better-made products with rousing BGM, sharp editing, and innovative cinematography. The performances of the principal cast are also said to be one of the highlights.
Ace director Rajamouli and blockbuster filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj also have heaped praises on the show, which is set in a small town that deals with ancient myths, a unique micro-festival concept, and its side effects on the present generation people.
The team of Pushkar and Gayathri have pulled off a solid show for the digital audience who are looking for crime-coated investigative dramas. Bramma G and Anucharan Murugaiyan directed the show.
It is being speculated that more seasons of the show will be green-lighted, going by the positive response.
