TFI’s Most Dangerous Summer: Prabhas, MB, NTR, AA Clash

If things go as planned, summer 2027 could turn into one of the biggest phases in the history of Telugu cinema at the national box office. Unlike the usual Sankranthi rush, this time the spotlight will be on the March to May summer window. The scale of films lined up is unprecedented.

At the top of the list is SS Rajamouli’s much anticipated next film, Varanasi. Starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra, this project is being positioned as a true global event film. Given Rajamouli’s track record and the international casting, expectations are that it will open massive not just in India, but worldwide. Reports suggest that Rajamouli is planning to release the film during Ram Navami in 2027.

Next comes Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and starring Prabhas. The director has already locked March 5, 2027, making it the first major summer release to officially announce its date. With Vanga’s brand of intense storytelling and Prabhas’ pan India pull, Spirit is expected to dominate mass and multiplex audiences alike.

Adding to the heat is Prashanth Neel’s next film, tentatively titled Dragon, featuring Jr NTR. Though the release date has not been officially confirmed, sources close to the production maintain that summer 2027 is firmly locked. Given Prashanth Neel’s success with KGF and Salaar, this project is expected to open huge across languages.

Finally, Atlee’s next sci-fi global film with Allu Arjun is also expected to join the summer race. Industry buzz strongly suggests that Allu Arjun’s film with Lokesh Kanagaraj might also be released in 2027. As a result, Allu Arjun may have two releases next year.

If all four films arrive within a two-month window, it will be nothing short of the biggest box office explosion. Telugu cinema would dominate screens, conversations, and collections across India, firmly establishing summer 2027 as a historic high point for Tollywood’s pan India and global presence.
