Nani’s The Paradise has been creating curiosity ever since it was announced. The first glimpse gave audiences a taste of director Srikanth Odela’s world. Nani’s look, character, and especially his abusive language surprised many. A dialogue with strong profanity, ‘Idi oka lan*a koduku katha,’ from the glimpse also became a talking point.
Now, young actress Mounika Reddy who was part of films like Dhandoraa and Baby, has revealed something even more interesting about the film.
In a recent interview, Mounika spoke about her audition for The Paradise. She said she was shocked when she received the scene for the audition because it had many strong abusive words. Mounika tried to perform the scene but could not bring herself to say those dialogues. After trying once, she decided that the role was not for her and walked away from the audition.
Her story has now increased curiosity around The Paradise. If the audition scene itself had such strong language, the final film could be even more intense.
The promotional material has already hinted at heavy violence. This suggests that strong language and violence could be major parts of Srikanth Odela’s treatment. If the film retains this level of intensity, an A certificate would not be surprising.
The Paradise also appears to be a very different film for Nani. He seems to be entering a much darker and more intense space than his usual roles.
The recently released teaser received extremely mixed reactions, and the initial buzz has certainly cooled compared to the excitement created by the first glimpse. However, this could be one of those films where promotional material may not tell the entire story.
Despite the underwhelming teaser response, The Paradise has the potential to explode at the box office during its opening weekend simply because of the curiosity surrounding Nani, Srikanth Odela and this unusually raw world.
Kayadu Lohar plays the female lead, while Sonali Kulkarni plays Nani’s mother. Mohan Babu is also part of the cast. The Paradise is scheduled to release on September 24.
