Siddhu Jonnalagadda is coming up with the sequel to his blockbuster DJ Tillu, titled Tillu Square. The advance bookings opened two days ago to a decent response.
The pre-bookings in Hyderabad City have reached around 1 crore, with an occupancy rate of about 25%, which is decent. However, considering the high expectations for the sequel and its release on a holiday (Good Friday), the numbers are slightly underwhelming.
DJ Tillu collected a share of around 20 crores in 2022 and became a blockbuster, but stakes are high with Tillu Square. Trade experts estimate that Tillu Square needs to reach around 30 crores to break even.
With the summer holidays and several upcoming holidays, there’s a fair chance it could reach this goal, despite competition from other films like Family Star. However, if audience reception isn’t positive, it may struggle at the box office.
The film’s release trailer premiered yesterday, accompanied by a grand pre-release event. Whether this boosts ticket sales significantly remains to be seen.
