Prime Minister Narendra Modi proudly announced the visa-on-arrival for US citizen in his first ever US trip, but back home the project is not easy as Modi’s announcement due to logistical hurdles. In 2013, 1.85 million US visitors visited the country, to put it simple, 15.58% of foreign visitors to India are from US. This number increase every year for an instance there is a growth of 4.4 percent in 2013 from the previous year.
Government sources say this project may not start before December 2014 since there are lot of complications involved. Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of External Affairs have to give in their nod. Once all the approvals have come, the government will have to increase the immigration counters in all the airports so as to facilitate visitors to have hassle free Visa on Arrival. It does not stop there government will also have to assess if this decision is going to impact internal security in any way before implementing it.
