Suriya and Venky Atluri’s Vishwanath & Sons is showing a strong upward trend in North America on Saturday, with the film crossing the $1 million milestone, Shloka Entertainments distributing the movie in this region.
As of 8 PM EST on Saturday, the North American collections are:
Premieres + Thursday + Friday: $679K
Saturday by 8 PM EST: $390K
Total so far: $1.069 Million
Interestingly, the Telugu version remains the major contributor. Although the film was originally shot in Tamil and dubbed into Telugu, Telugu audiences are driving its North America collections.
The North America breakeven for Vishwanath & Sons is valued at $1.9 million. The film is almost certain to reach the breakeven mark, but its next week’s weekday trend will determine where it eventually finishes.
Suriya’s previous film, Karuppu, performed well in the US and posted a lifetime collection of $1.4 million. Following Karuppu, the success of Vishwanath & Sons comes as a major relief for Suriya, who had struggled at the box office earlier.
