Kalki 2898 AD (Hindi) saw a significant boost on its second Saturday, collecting around 16.75 crore net, an impressive 80% jump from the previous day. This solid performance is promising for a film with such a wide release.
The movie has found stability in mass pockets after the initial mediocre response, and Sunday is expected to bring further growth, although the weekdays may see drops in mass areas.
The difference between Kalki and RRR will generally be the business in UP and Gujarat. RRR did fantastic business in these two regions which helped the film to collect 275 crores in its lifetime.
Kalki 2898 AD might fall short of reaching that figure only because the mass audience in UP and Gujarat haven’t liked the film as much as RRR.
If Kalki was as dramatic, emotional, and mass appeal as RRR, it would have easily gone past the 300-crore mark. But Kalki has turned out to be a film more for the urban audience and less for the masses which is why it is doing better business on weekends and facing drops on weekdays.
Kalki 2898 AD is all set to cross the 200 crore net figure today in Hindi. The total after two weeks is heading towards 225 crores. Next week there will be some competition in the form of Indian 2 and Sarfira.
