Will Amazon Edit Jai Bhim For OTT Release?

Suriya‘s Jai Bhim has skipped its theatrical release and is releasing directly on Amazon Prime Video. It is the second film of Suriya to land directly on Amazon Prime Video after Soorarai Pottru last year. Soorarai Pottru is the biggest hit on OTT ever since the Pandemic struck.

Meanwhile, Jai Bhim will be streaming on Amazon Prime Video from November 2nd. But then, much to the shock of the OTT giant, the movie has got A certificate from the Censor Board. A film about law and legal issues getting A certificate is a surprise.

Amazon will stream films of all rating but for aggressively promoting a film in all media, the OTT giant would not want A certification. Given that the movie is a Direct-to-OTT release, aggressive promotions are most likely. Films arriving on OTT will not have Censor issues.

But Amazon may still would not want to take the risk when debate of OTT censorship is going on. Re-editing the film for its audience can also have the moral high ground for Amazon Prime Video. Moreover, the movie has arrived at 2 hours 44 minutes long and so there is a scope for editing.
