Films haven’t been doing well lately in Bollywood, prompting producers to try various promotions like Buy One Get One Free tickets and 99-rupee ticket offers. These tactics have rarely turned bad films into box office hits, but producers continue to hope they will draw audiences to theaters.
Akshay Kumar’s latest film, Sarfira, is currently experiencing disastrous box office performance, collecting just 6.5 crores net in two days.
In a desperate attempt to boost ticket sales, a notable multiplex chain has introduced a new offer: with a valid ticket, patrons will receive complimentary tea, two samosas, and official merchandise from the film.
This promotion highlights the movie’s poor performance, a recurring issue for Akshay Kumar films lately.
If the current trend continues, Sarfira may disappear from theaters by the end of Monday and these offers often signal to audiences that the film isn’t good, reinforcing the perception that such offers are last-ditch efforts to salvage the film at the box office.
It’s quite a pity and extremely sad that an Akshay Kumar film has to resort to offering samosas to entice viewers into theaters.
