Yendamuri Raghunandan, a 28 year old techie from AP, who has been convicted as guilty for two gruesome murders in US, was on trial the whole day Tuesday and finally late in the night, after much deliberation and talk, jury has decided to hand him death by lethal injection and has sentenced Ragu to 2 death sentences for double murder. It was a simple choice between death penalty and life imprisonment but the jury took a long time to come to a decision. Raghu was waiting it out in Montgomery County Courthouse holding cell while jurors deliberate his fate and he was writing some thing on the book for some time.
The mental condition of the convict, Yendamuri Raghunandan, was one of the important factors that reportedly played a major role in the jury taking the long time to make decision. The argument that the circumstances under which Yendamuri Raghunandan had resorted to such brutal killings were directly linked to his mental condition were strong but it didn’t finally help in getting the convict life imprisonment without parole as the defense pleaded because professionals views weren’t fully in sync with it.
Death with lethal injection as the name suggests is death through an injection given to Yendamuri Raghunandan. It will not be happening immediately, it will be sometime before that happens and during all this time, Raghunandan has to stay in his cell with no human contact whatsoever. Many are however not sure if he will survive till the death penalty is eventually carried out. Yendamuri Raghunandan had killed a 61 years old women Satyavathi and a 10 months old baby Saanvi Venna two years ago that shocked the entire world. Do you think the jury has made the right decision?
